Der Wäger, 1939
Sculpture by Arno Breker

This is one of the five statues created for the round room of the Reich Chancellery. Though it is supposed to represent the concept of the Wäger, or the spirit of the Reich, it is quite obviously a portrait of Dr. Karl Brandt, at least from the head up. It is unknown if Brandt ever modeled for Breker, or if Breker worked from photographs using Brandt’s ideal facial features as a muse for this work.
